WinterFest volunteers are needed before, during, and after the event to help bring this community celebration to life. Opportunities range from hands-on preparation in the weeks leading up to WinterFest to on-site support during the festival itself.

The Winterfest Festival, free & open to the community, will be a fun-filled event featuring interactive ice sculptures, vendors, food trucks, a kids’ zone,  music, entertainment, and more!

PRE-Event Volunteer Needs (Early January through Event Week)

  • S’mores Kit Assembly
    Help assemble s’mores kits using provided materials for distribution during the event.
 
  • General Pre-Event Preparation Support
    Assist with a variety of behind-the-scenes tasks such as organizing supplies, preparing materials, staging items, and other event setup needs.
 
  • Cookie Baking & Donations
    Bake and donate trays of cookies for the WinterFest snack bar (approximately 40–45 cookies per tray). Drop-off coordination provided.

Event-Day Volunteer Needs (Friday & Saturday of WinterFest)

  • S’mores Station Assistance
    Help staff s’mores stations, assist attendees, restock supplies, and keep areas organized and safe.

 
  • Event Setup & Breakdown
    Support setup before festival hours and breakdown at the end of the day, including tents, signage, supplies, and general cleanup.

 
  • General Event Support
    Floaters who can assist with various needs throughout the event like answering questions, supporting activity areas, or helping staff as needed.

 
  • Photo & Video Support
    Assist with capturing photos or video content of activities, crowds, and event highlights (experience helpful but not required).

Buskers & Live Performers (Event Days Only)

DDP seeks musicians, performers, and spoken-word/poetry artists to participate as buskers throughout the two-day WinterFest event. Performances will take place at a combination of indoor and outdoor locations across Downtown Dover, helping create energy, atmosphere, and spontaneous moments for visitors.

  • Performers may accept tips from passersby
  • DDP will provide a modest honorarium (approximately $30) upon completion of the assignment
  • This opportunity is curated and limited based on space and scheduling

 

Experience required. Interested performers must submit proof of ability (video link, short bio, and/or social media links) for review.
